PCR, PLA and Mono-Materials: How to Order Eco Packaging for Cosmetics Without Compromising Quality

Recycled PCR plastic, PLA bioplastic and recyclable mono-materials: which eco packaging options Korean manufacturer COCOSPACK actually offers, and what to ask before your production run.

Demand for sustainable packaging stopped being a niche request long ago: retail chains and marketplaces increasingly ask brands what a bottle is made of and what happens to it after use. Korean manufacturer COCOSPACK covers this area with three materials and structural solutions. Here is what is available and how to order it.

Three Materials

The first option is recycled PCR plastic: the bottle contains a share of recycled feedstock, and the brand can state this honestly on the packaging. The second option is PLA bioplastic. The third route is structural: mono-materials, where the entire item is made from a single polymer and can therefore be recycled without disassembly.

In addition to the materials, lightweight designs reduce the amount of plastic used per unit of product.

Why Quality Does Not Suffer

Eco packaging goes through the same controls as standard packaging: compatibility testing with the formula, leak testing and pump endurance testing. Production is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22716 and ISO 15378, and the products pass audits by global brands.

The entire cycle, from mould to assembly, takes place in-house, so switching to a different material does not require re-approving a chain of subcontractors.

What to Ask Before the Production Run

Three questions are worth settling before launch: what share of PCR is achievable for your design, how the material behaves with your formula, and how the unit cost changes at your volume. The minimum order is 10,000 units, negotiable depending on the design of the item.

The factory answers all three questions for each specific project; honest universal figures that apply to every bottle simply do not exist.
